Frederik Walla

Frederik Walla is from Germany. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Technische Universität Darmstadt and holds a master’s degree in physics from Goethe University Frankfurt. During his studies, Frederik focused on modern experimental optics, THz spectroscopy and imaging techniques concerning solid state and biophysical applications. He possesses a background in atomic force microscopy, optical near-field nanoscopy, plasmonics and lock-in signal detection.

Frederik’s interest in optoelectronics, THz generation and spectroscopy which led him to join the Optoelectronics and Laser Technology group of Prof. Pablo Acedo at UC3M in September 2016. As part of the CELTA project, his PhD will be focused on multimode photonic sources for high quality THz generation and heterodyne detection applications. The research emphasizes the optimization of frequency performance, output power and phase noise performance of dual optical frequency comb based architectures. Moreover, it is envisaged that the targeted system will be used to perform high resolution THz spectroscopy.
