Nanophotonics and Terahertz Technology Group

The Nanophotonics and Terahertz Technology (NTT) group is part of the Chair of Photonics which is led by Prof. Franko Küppers. The NTT is led by Dr. Shihab Al-Daffaie and interested to use the nanomaterials such as graphene and nanowires for terahertz generation, detection and systems. The research starts from device design, fabrication, characterization, optimization, and ends at system integration. The target within CELTA is to explore graphene-based or graphene enhanced devices for sensing applications. This includes functionalized graphene layers as an exposed two-dimensional electron gas for highly sensitive and specific sensors and THz sources based on photonic mixers with graphene electrodes, and electronic oscillator concepts realized in graphene that can be combined with classical electronic approaches.
