Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M)

University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), Spain, is a public University with around 18,000 students and more than 1,900 teaching and research staff. Established in 1989, the mission of UC3M is to contribute to the improvement of society through teaching of the highest quality and cutting-edge research in line with stringent international guidelines. Among the five academic schools in which the University is organized, the School of Engineering (Campus de Leganés) is the centre dedicated to teaching and research in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering and Bioengineering disciplines. Additionally, UC3M is very active in R&D European Framework Programmes. The number of funded projects in FP7, 72 projects, has doubled the figures of V and VI Framework Programme. The increase of the international leadership of the UC3M´s researchers is also quite evident considering the high number of coordinated projects by UC3M. The University has coordinated 9 projects (around 13% of the funded projects) along FP7, which is four times the average figure in V and VI Framework Programme.
